It’s not every day that you get to wander around a grade 1 listed building and be offered canapés help with planning your wedding and finding suppliers! But thats exactly what we did here at Angel House, our Preferred Suppliers and Wedding Coordinator were on hand, and any suppliers that couldn’t be present, beautifully displayed their products so they could be seen in context.
At Angel House, we work very hard to keep close relationships with our suppliers, we meet and vet everyone to ensure we are recommending high quality suppliers. As The House is a grade 1 listed building we have to ensure everyone is sympathetic to the house and works respectfully in it.
When couples book with us, they are asked to pick their caterers, photographer, florist and DJ from our preferred suppliers – we have a range to pick from in different styles and generally couples are pleased we have done the main bit of work for them – it saves a lot of time and stress wondering if you are going to get a good service.
Below are some pictures from our recent open day, the photography is by Sarah Wenban Photography with examples of work and contributions from: Darren cool Photography, Florian, Creating Ceremony, Circa Events, Stick It On Entertainment, Cater hire Services, Kasserina Cakes, Gastro Catering, Flowers unlimited, The Brighton Flower Company, Infinite Love,White Mischief Bridal, Clare John Weddings, Joogleberry Acts, Alexandra King – Harpist, Sarah Milner – Violinist
Angel House also only hosts 20 -25 weddings a year, this allows us to help preserve the house and give couples more time and help – our venue manager Bev is a qualified Wedding Planner and is always more than happy to help with anything you many need.
This week we were also voted one of the top 74 Venues in the UK by Bridebook, more details on this coming soon!
Ok, so the year is no longer new (when does it become old?) and we have decided to host an Open House event for all newly (and not so new) engaged couples! We didn’t like the idea of a Wedding fair as they can feel a bit sales like so Our Open House Welcomes anyone getting hitched to come and see the house, meet local suppliers and have a good ole natter about Weddings whether booking with us or not!
We work very closely with our preferred suppliers and we like to ensure you are getting a great quality service that reflects the house, most of our wonderful suppliers will be here at the Open House event, if you would like to look them up before hand you can find them here:
All our suppliers will be available to chat to at some point over the weekend or they will be leaving examples of work and information for you to take away.
We had some beautiful weddings here at the house last year and cannot wait to see what 2017 brings!
Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year at Angel House!
This December, Angel House has played host to four Christmas Weddings and a Baby Naming Ceremony!
We have had a wonderful year at Angel House, we have grown as a venue and met wonderful suppliers and couples. It has been really exciting having Christmas last for a whole month!
It is always intriguing to see how different couples use the house to create a day that is special and unique to them below is a little sneaky peak of our Weddings this month:
Matt and Miranda opted for a warming, sparkly Red Rose theme complete with Christmas Crackers! They had a fab 50’s Style band in the evening supplied by Sue From Joogleberry events with delightful food supplied by Circa Events with photography by Darren Cool (not featured images – professional photos to follow in January!) They also had the day filmed which they have allowed us to share once they have received it!
Gemma and Jonathan went for a white, crisp Winter wonderland with a little hint of Disney! Celebrant Samantha Goodchild of Infinite Love lead the ceremony with Catering from Secret Service, Photography by Sarah Wenban (not featured images – professional pictures to follow!) Evening music provided by Sean Walser , Flowers by Flowers Unlimited , venue decor from Bows Hire and light up dance floor from Selstar Fireworks Gemma also used Christina Jessel for her hair and make up.
Paula and Graham had a gorgeously intimate vintage feel with tables strewn with pine cones, holly and ivy. The cake was made by the Brides sister and the flowers were arranged by her Niece! A lovely DIY family filled wedding. They also used Secret Service Catering for their Wedding Breakfast.
Charlotte and Alex had a Classic lily filled ceremony, with a classic car!- the scent of the flowers filled the room, the beautiful flowers were supplied by Quince florists and the gorgeous Classic Bentley was courtesy of Sussex Bentley Hire
We also had a great Carol Concert lead by harpist duo 94 Strings we raised £300 for charity, dividing it between 2 local causes The ClockTower Sanctuary and Impetus homemade mulled wine and mince pies filled the air and a jolly good sing song was had by all! Alex and Fiona on the harps were joined by vocalists Andrea Berthiaume, Katie Hunwick and Beverley Seal. The fivesome delivered both traditional and contemporary Christmas songs with in an informal, relaxed candlelit atmosphere.
Angel House wishes you a very Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year!
This year, Christmas at Angel House will be a traditional carol concert by candleight.
Come and Kick start the Christmas season here with us at Angel House, we are very excited to be welcoming 94 Strings back to perform some classic christmas songs both old and new. Fiona and Alex are local harpists who are a real treat to listen too!
We also have vocalists : Beverley Seal, Katie Hunwick and Andrea Berthiaume who will be delighting us with some harmonious melodies to accompany the harps.
Included in the ticket price is a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie! Angel House will also be donating profits to two local charities:
Impetus who are an independent organisation delivering a range of services aimed at improving the wellbeing and quality of life of vulnerable adults across the City, and
The Clocktower Sanctuary who provide a friendly, bright, centrally-located, safe space for homeless young people to engage with their peers and other visiting agencies – without the worry of having to share a service with older people who can be intimidating.

Carolyn and Jenny
From the moment we entered Angel House we knew it was the perfect venue for our wedding. The house is stunning and Phill, Sarah and Bev are wonderful.
Our special day was everything that we had imagined and hoped that it would be. Everything went smoothly from 10am until we left the house the next day. Nothing was too much for Phill & Staff, they ensured that all of our and our guests needs were met in a genuine, friendly manner.
Beautiful little touches such as nibbles and fizz in the beautiful bedroom on the big day. The breakfast on the morning after was fantastic, a huge amount of fresh food.
Sarah seemed to have a magic wand, if we needed something she would supply it in minutes!
We felt like we had 3 extra friends at our wedding, Phill and co were caring, professional and great fun .
We would recommend Angel House to everyone!!
Stephen and Philip
Beautiful venue, amazing, lovely helpful team. We wanted a venue that our guests simply couldn’t fault and we felt we achieved this when we found Angel House, post wedding we know we achieved it, everyone said it was a beautiful venue.
We didn’t go as traditional as one might expect considering the age and style of the venue, but everything just worked a treat.
The team are just amazing, everything was so relaxed and easy. Felt more like friends by the time the day came so a huge thank you to Phil, Sara and Bev you were simply amazing and you helped make our special day perfect.
If you’re planning a wedding or other special event add Angel House to the top of your list, you wont be disappointed – just wish I could do it all again!
We are also in the midst of planning another harp concert and a Christmas themed evening……. more information on this coming soon!
